Gave the little-one a final clean over the last two days in preparation for picking up the new girl tomorrow. Took quite a few pictures to remember her by.
She’s been a great car. Reliable to a fault and confounded many peoples opinions on how good a car Skodas are these days.

Seems like a great car. I always wished we got Skodas in the US

Such a Superb wagon! Sad to see it go but excited to see its progeny. You are getting a liftback (with rear wiper!) this time and not the estate, correct? It’s gonna be awesome either way. These giant Passats always seemed like a great way to have something relatively luxurious yet still discreet and elegant; that’s probably why I appreciate them as much as I do Saabs and Volvos ;) Is the umbrella included in the sale or will it migrate to your new Superb once it arrives?

That umbrella door is awesome. I can’t believe more companies don’t do that.

I’m sorry but this is all I can ever see when I look at any Skoda

Depending on how Dieselgate pans out they could always rebrand VW USA as Skoda.

Damn, that’s a good looking car.

Someone’s going to get a lovely car there, it looks better than new...

She’s been such a great car. You develop an inner smile having her.
The umbrella will be staying with the car. The new Superb has two umbrellas (one in each front door).
Ye’, getting a 5 door hatchback (in one hour 20 minutes from now). YAY.

It’s a great idea. Strangely the umbrella door is on the rear left hand side door on both LHD and RHD cars. The new car has two umbrellas, one in each of the front doors.

Thanks. She does have a few cosmetic issues though. She’s only done 16,000 miles so not even really broken in.

She goes in an hour, so I’m not really worried about it.
The new car will have her’s obscured in the photos but will tell you the new car is called ‘Piglet’ because of the letters in the licence plate.

She’s a Mk2 Superb and two months after getting her they came out with the Mk2 facelift which got a more angular front an rear end (sort of a bridge between t Mk2 and th Mk3).

I doubt those cosmetic issues are anything compared to what most negligent car owners can do in 16k miles. They certainly dont show up in photos.

Wow congrats, lovely car.

It’s certainly not a car for a technophobe.
Absolutely love her.

Oh my God that design is amazing. I love Skoda cars.

Everything about her is great from the dual umbrellas in the front doors, stunning headlights, clamshell bonnet with the opening blended into the side crease, air conditioned glove box and centre console, etc... so many small touches that really add up.

Question from an ignorant American. Are these considered more of an upmarket alternative to VW or lower?

Lower, to many people much lower.
Skoda had a bad name for reliability, etc... many years ago and even though VW bought Skoda about 20 years ago, Skoda is still in many minds especially snobs minds is that Skoda is inferior.
Even when, back in 2009, they put a Skoda Superb up against a Bentley Flying Spur, Audi A6 Quattro and a BMW 750Li.
Below is the Autocar review (bare in mind the review is of the Mk2 Superb and the Mk3 is certainly better).

The ŠKODA Superb has claimed its biggest victory in a road test yet. Autocar magazine this week pitched the Superb against three rivals supposedly way out of its league – a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Audi A6 Quattro and BMW 750Li – and the Superb has beaten the lot. Reviewer Andrew Frankel said: “ŠKODA… has engineered the Superb blind to the knowledge that you can’t make a luxury car for less than Ł40k, let alone for only a little more than Ł20,000.”
The Superb beat the Audi and BMW for space, comfort and refinement, and ran the Bentley close in many areas. Frankel said: “Its ride quality is several streets ahead of the Audi, better even than the BMW and a close match for the Bentley.” He also praised the car’s cabin, calling it “a fine place to pass the time, thanks to the best driving position of the lot.”
The Superb’s all-round performance made it the winner, with the Bentley second, the BMW third and the Audi fourth. “[The Superb] has competed hard on merit, out-riding the BMW, offering more space than the Audi and refinement levels close to the Bentley’s,” said Frankel. “It is a proper luxury car, and for the space, comfort and quiet offered for the money being asked, it is the most impressive here. ŠKODA beats Bentley is an odd thing to write, but its victory is real and deserved.”
In the scheme of things they are the entry level of the VAG group. bottom is Skoda and SEAT, higher is the VW, then Audi, Bentley, Porsche, etc...

Cool, I had no idea the Superbs actually came with umbrella’s. I would smile all the time too knowing you could drive an Audi with all the perks of buying a Golf :)

Well great. Know I just wish more than ever they were sold in the USA. I am very impressed with that review. And it just looks so awesome!

Ye’, the Skoda Superb Mk3, Audi A6 C7 (facelift) and the VW Passat B8 are the same platform and underpinnings. Only the Skoda has more interior space strangely enough.
Audi A6 is 2.0 up to 3.0 litre petrol and diesel engines, prices from Ł32,295 - 56,545.
VW diesel only (in the U.K. at least) prices from Ł22,650 - 27,870.
Skoda a good range of 1.4 up to 2.0 petrol and diesel engines, prices from Ł18,640 - 28,740.
((in all cases options can blow the basic price way up)).
A guy on another forum was getting 65-70mpg (UK) while bedding in and after 2,000 miles gets 85mpg (UK) on the same 75 mile commute.

Good man. Hope you enjoy plenty of trouble free miles with her.
